Acupuncture for Wellness: How to Feel Better

35 million people visit the chiropractor every year.  Over 1 million adjustments are performed every day, and millions of people around the nation and the world feel the wonderful benefits that chiropractic care provides.

If you’ve been to the chiropractor, you know that you feel refreshed and renewed after you leave. And you know that after several visits, you start to feel a change in your body and well-being.

But did you know that chiropractors can also perform acupuncture

Chiropractors utilize holistic therapies like acupuncture, massage, and adjustments that don’t involve medication or surgical interventions to treat patients.

Acupuncture for wellness may seem slightly off-putting when you think of it, but this ancient Traditional Chinese Medicine practice is completely painless. Furthermore, it has been shown to produce incredible benefits and results.

What is Acupuncture?

This treatment that uses microscopic needles strategically placed all over the body has been used for thousands of years and is still a popular practice today.

Introduced into the United States in the 1970s, acupuncture quickly gained popularity for its ability to promote and increase the health and well-being of the person who is being treated.

One of the primary purposes of acupuncture is to balance and allow the free flow of energy, or qi (chee). As you receive acupuncture, it is believed that your energy blockage will be released, and your overall health and well-being will improve.

As we said, the needles are strategically placed, not just put randomly all over your body. The needles are placed into the pathways (meridians) of the body. The placement of the needles is meant to stimulate the body’s nerves, muscles, and tissues to promote natural healing and alleviate pain.

Acupuncture Process – What to Expect

When you arrive for your The Bluffs – St. Louis acupuncture treatment, we will first closely examine, evaluate and consult with you on your current mental and physical conditions and struggles.

We will then communicate to you the areas where the needle insertion will take place and why.  After that, we will begin placing the microscopic needles into the skin and will use anywhere from 5 to 40 needles.  Once the needles have been placed, we will perform needle manipulation in which we twirl or stimulate the needles using gentle electrical pulses.  Again, this is a painless treatment, and you will only feel mild tingling or movement.

After the placement and manipulation have been completed, you will relax for 20-30 more minutes, and then the needles are removed.
